A new type of Search Engine
Don't you just hate it when you can't find something your looking for?
Well a workmate of mine introduced me to a new search engine called ChaCha. And I know, your thinking "Oh another search engine, whatever." But this one is a little different than the others.
Here's how it works, according to them:
- When your query (search) is submitted it is sent to a Guide (yes, a real person) who is knowledgable in the topic you're searching.
- The Guides can see the question you submit, so you can submit your question in natural language, just like you'd ask any person a question.
- It also means that if you submit a question filled with non-specifics (like "foot") nonsensicals (like "asdfjlakjf"), you will most likely not get connected to a Guide because no one will accept it. Same goes for any profanity.
- Once connected to a Guide you can chat with him/her to clarify your question. Discussing your question will get more precise results than any other search engines can deliver.
At first, I thought this was just another web gimick trying to make a few bucks off of the millions of web neophyte's out there. But after seeing how it works myself, I was quite impressed, and I may actually even try it out when I can't find something.
Now, how much more Web 2.0ish can you get? In my opinon, THAT is innovation at its finest.
