Particles

Japanese particles (助詞 or てにをは) don't exist in english, but they are necessary for Japanese grammar. You can not make Japanese sentences without them. This is only a short list of the basic elementary particles. (For beginners, particles are kind of like: and, by, of, or, to, etc.)

    romaji
    hiragana
    details

    wo
    を
    Direct object indicator

    ha
    は
    Topic marker

    ga
    が
    Subject identifier

    ni (and) e
    に (and) へ
    Destination indicator

    de
    で
    Action indicator

    no
    の
    Possession indicator

    to
    と
    Connector

    ya
    や
    List connector

    mo
    も
    Includer

    ka
    か
    Question maker

    yo
    よ
    Empasizer

    ne
    ね
    Terribly overused

    na
    な
    Quasi-adjective indicator

Additional details from wikipedia: Particles follow the same rules of phonetic transcription as all Japanese words, with the exception of は (written ha, pronounced wa), へ (written he, pronounced e) and を (written using a hiragana character with no other use in modern Japanese, originally assigned as wo, now usually pronounced o, though some speakers render it as wo).

Spektre Design is the creative outlet of Michael Kennedy. That's me. I'm just a fun-loving guy who wears glasses, who likes to travel, and loves to eat Blueberries, Walnuts, and KFC hot wings! I'm a natural free-hand artist, and I always strive to finish what I start.

If you're looking at this page, I hope you are either (1.) looking to hire a web developer, or (2.) an extremely beautiful woman.

background info

I have been designing and maintaining web sites for over 10 years and I possess a wide range of knowledge and experience in this field, and can handle multiple projects at once. I have learned to produce both usable and aesthetically pleasing cross-browser designs.

I have also worked on several Web design teams, both freelance and professional. Feel free to contact me if you have any requests or questions. My resume is available only upon request.

technical skills

I'm a CSS expert. I am proficient with troubleshooting many cross-browser
compatibility issues. I can use both Mac and Windows. Before I start coding (W3C valid and/or table-less) XHTML/HTML5, I use Photoshop as a starting point. Therefore, I can take just a few conceptual ideas and then create a layered PSD image, and from that, I can swiftly build and deliver clean, lightweight, code.

I can work in Dreamweaver, Visual Studio, or Notepad. And I'm familiar with Subversion. I can work in both a PHP or .NET environment. I can also adhere to Web Accessibility guidelines to ensure that my pages are section 508 compliant, and closely follow the current W3C specs. I have experience writing code for Email clients, and also mobile sites. And I'm remotely available by Phone, Skype, and Email.

my interests

Well, first of all, I'm learning to speak Japanese (日本語), I'm a Star Wars and Star Trek fan, I'm crazy about Batman movies and cartoons, I like facebook, I love traveling to other countries, and oh, did I mention that I do Web design?

my hobbies

When I'm not building web sites I can usually be found studying Japanese, writing food reviews on Yelp, spending time with friends or family, traveling to exotic locations, or trying out all of the local asian food restaurants I can find.

Make your life easier

Creating a web site which uses Cascading style sheets (CSS) is a lot easier
to maintain than creating a web site without it. That is, if your familiar with
most of the useful of the CSS properties.

For instance, lets pretend you attached a style sheet to all of your
pages on your Web site, using either the @import rule, or
the link HTML element.

@import url(/css/styles.css);

Now, after you've finished deploying a HUGE web site which has several thousand pages, and its all static, your boss walks in, and he says You know, the client doesn't like that color scheme... we need to try something else.

Do you throw up your hands and quit the job? -- No way! CSS allows you to make changes to of your pages color, padding, margins, alignment, background images, font size and families, positioning, floating, etc. all from one single CSS file. All you need to do is open up that one single file, make an edit, and re-upload it. Boom - your done.
